The journey combines Tarangire’s elephant-filled savannahs, Ngorongoro Crater’s exceptional wildlife concentration and Lake Manyara’s beautiful forests and lake landscapes.
From giant baobab trees and large elephant herds to the possibility of seeing lions, buffalo, hippos and the endangered black rhino, every day offers a different safari experience.
day-to-day tour itinerary
Day 1: Arusha – Tarangire National Park – Karatu
Your adventure begins with a morning pickup from your hotel in Arusha. Meet your professional safari guide, receive a short briefing and begin your journey toward Tarangire National Park.
Tarangire is renowned for its impressive elephant population, enormous baobab trees and diverse wildlife. The Tarangire River provides an important water source, attracting animals particularly during the drier months.
Enter the park and enjoy a full day of game viewing. Keep watch for elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffaloes, impalas, warthogs and a variety of bird species. With luck, you may also encounter lions, leopards or cheetahs.
Enjoy a picnic lunch in the park before continuing with an afternoon game drive.
Later, leave Tarangire and drive toward the Karatu/Ngorongoro area for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater – Karatu / Lake Manyara Area
After an early breakfast, drive toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and prepare for one of Tanzania’s most spectacular wildlife experiences.
Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, a vast volcanic caldera famous for its remarkable concentration of wildlife. The crater provides excellent opportunities to encounter lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, hippos, hyenas and, with luck, the endangered black rhino.
Spend several hours exploring the crater floor with your experienced guide. Stop for a picnic lunch at a designated picnic area while enjoying the extraordinary scenery.
Continue your game drive before ascending the crater walls in the afternoon.
After leaving Ngorongoro, drive toward the Lake Manyara/Karatu area for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Lake Manyara National Park – Arusha
After breakfast, depart for Lake Manyara National Park, a beautiful protected area situated beneath the dramatic Great Rift Valley escarpment.
Begin your game drive through the park’s varied ecosystems, including groundwater forests, woodland and open areas around the lake. Lake Manyara is known for its diverse birdlife and offers opportunities to see elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, hippos, baboons and other wildlife.
Keep an eye on the trees for one of the park’s most famous attractions: tree-climbing lions. While sightings are never guaranteed, the possibility adds an exciting element to the game drive.
You may also see flamingos, pelicans, storks and other waterbirds around the lake.
Enjoy a picnic lunch before continuing your final game drive.
In the afternoon, leave Lake Manyara and drive back to Arusha, arriving in the late afternoon or early evening.
